trip to the library

i took the baby sister to the library, because she had to check out books to look for monologues
for her audition.
i wanted to check out a movie, but all the good ones were taken and so i stopped by the cafe to get
something to eat while waiting for hannah to check out her books.

the library cafe has the best toffee coffee. o... it is love~!
i noticed that the cafe made a little change.

they have doors now.

they also had a mardi gras showcase with these clown marionettes.

i just have one word to describe it....

creepy.

we also stopped by the grocery store on the the way home to get some movies from the redbox.

thank you jesus.... for the redbox.

we rented the hangover, pandorum and saw vi.

i enjoyed the hangover...a LOT. i couldn't stop laughing.

pandorum was not that bad. people were saying how awful it is. it was almost like serenity.

i have yet to watch saw vi, but i will get to it in the morning before i have to go to work.

today is not only valentine's day, but it is also the chinese new year.

this year it is the year of the tiger, which is my animal zodiac. i wanted to go to chicago to see the celebration
in china town, but i can't. so sad.

i was checking out the uo website and came across the "create your own" bike page.
so this is what i created.

i would looooove a beautiful bike like this.
it is $399. it is so expensive, but i would definitely ride this baby around the neighborhood.

my voice still sounds like a man. my cold is annoying me. people have trouble understanding what
i'm trying to say. which reminds me... i need to buy luden's cherry cough drops. luden's are the best.

my back and neck still ache from the slip i had on the stairs last night (there was a piece of paper on the steps). my back and shoulder is bruised pretty bad. i couldn't sleep on it, cuz it hurt so much. when i woke it up it wasn't so bad anymore. i'm still a little sore, but i'll live.

valentine shopping

i stopped by target early in the morning.

i had a day off from work so i decided to grab some things to make for valentine's day for the family.
i took photos on my cellphone of some random things that i saw at the valentine's day section.

i had such an awful day yesterday.
i was driving home from work and my car spun outta control. they didn't even salt the roads or clean up the snow.
i wasn't even going 20 mph ..... almost died man....

hate chicago weather so so much.

plus, i woke up with a really bad migraine today. i get headaches and migraines about 2-5 times a week and to top it off i have a cold and my voice sound like an old man. a friend of my mine called me and thought

she had the wrong number, cuz she thought she was talking to a dude.

i love the graphics he did for the penguin books collection. i may have to buy myself a set.

she is like a puppy. ya know, always whining for attention.

i also stopped by godiva to get a free almond truffle. scrumptious!

i cannot believe this is a happening today!

there is an utada hikaru concert at the house of blues in chicago..... and i can't gooooo~!
can't believe this. it is only $37!

i want to ditch work to go with judiee to attend the concert, but i don't want to ditch my coworker.
that wouldn't be fair. (sigh....)

o well....

i took my baby sister to the mall and did some shopping. we also stopped by candy world and the disney store. i took the pictures on my mobile phone so the quality isn't great.

asian noodle house

i just came back from taking rose to the bus station back to chicago and hannah just left for school.

i have the day off today and so i am trying to figure out what to do today.
i was thinking of going shopping again, but i should save up my money.

anyways, i took rose and hannah to asian noodle house after church service the other day.
it has been a while since we have been there cuz it is always so packed all the time.

after asian noodle house we went shopping over at valli produce for rose's groceries. she says she has no more food back at the dorms.

the grammy's were on that day, but we were all tired of going all over the place and we all slept right before the grammy's were about to come on. so i have no idea what happened cuz i totally missed everything.

i am so ... so.... so tired.

i haven't slept all night and almost fell asleep during my exam.
i'll know in three weeks whether i passed it or not.

after i left the college i stopped by the store and got a drawing notebook, black prismacolor marker
and some charcoal pencils.

i need to get back to the drawing thing.

i also stopped by the donut shop and got a maple donut before i got home.

writing in my journal and taking it easy.

enjoying a nice cup of coffee that came from maui~!

i am so dead tired.

before testing, i got to the building about an hour early and met up with angelica.

we basically kinda had our class reunion there. it was nice to see everyone and i

definitely miss our class. our class had so many awesome and crazy people and jen's baby tummy is gettin' so HUGE!

good times....good times...

everybody from our class now knows that jen's baby is going to be a girl. congrats!

today, church service ended very short. we had to leave because of the wedding preparations.
i took rose and hannah for grocery shopping that rose can take back to school with her the next day
and i treated them to steak & shake.
i was gonna take my mom with us but she was too tired.

Going to the Lou

i took rose and sarah to Lou Malnati's Pizzeria.
they have never gone before so i had to take them.

any chicagoan will tell you can't leave here without trying Lou Malnati's.
it is the best pizza.

i always get the "Lou" with a deep dish crust. absolutely delicious.

as i was driving around the corner, hannah (the youngest) got off school early and noticed us driving away.
she of course knew we were going out to eat and tried to text us to come back and get her.
none of us had our cell phones on us and hannah stayed in the house...sulking.
she told us how mad she was for not taking her. bwhahaha! i thought it was hilarious.

new year resolutions and red robin

since it is the new year i should make some resolutions.
sadly, i made none.

however, i decided that i would try and get some artwork done.
i've been meaning to for years, but~ i never have time to do it.
so i'm going to do my best to get it going and also i need to pray more.
i need to pray for my grammy. she doesn't remember that my dad left us and wants to speak with him.
she really misses him a lot. my heart was hurting for her when i talked to her on the phone.
i also need to pray for my cousin joseph and his family.

on sunday, i talked to janet about hanging out together before rachel and her leave for college.
we decided to hang out at the red robin in lincolnshire, which is kinda far from my house.
however, i had a geat time with everyone.

one thing my family often does is keep in mind of other family members who aren't able to join us.

sherlock holmes and steak n' shake ...

it was freezing!
the moment i got out of my car door my pants froze.

it is that cold.

i drove to randhurst to meet up with everyone so we can watch sherlock holmes.

the movie was good.
i loved jude law as watson and that's coming from someone who is not really a big fan of him. robert downey jr. was hilarious as holmes, but i felt there was no point of rachel mcadams being in that movie. my only compaint was the whole secret society/cult theme going on. it gets annoying after watching so many films like it.

afterwards, the gang hung out at steak n' shake. it is something we always do. eat at steak n' shake after a movie. i enjoyed hanging out with old friends i haven't seen in a while and meeting new ones.

i woke up around 12pm.

i don't usually sleep that late, but since i got home late and didn't go to bed until 4am in the morning...
i think it's acceptable.

my mother was up making 떡국 (dduk gook). it is a korean tradition to eat this kind of soup on new year's day with your loved ones.

i hope everyone is enjoying the new year. now i must go to work.

i worked until 9:30pm.

i was pretty tired since we were really busy and i was gonna head over to sammiee's new year's party...but~
my mother would rather have the family together and attend church service. maybe it was a sign that God didn't want me to go overboard with my drinking, cuz on halloween...well...don't really want to get into how much i drank that night. the point is that i learned my lesson to not overdo it.

i honestly went to sleep several times during prayer since i was tired.

however, i did have fun hanging out with everyone. david decided to start the new year off by grabbing my leg and chomping on it.... thanks man...

i have been invited by 5 people to go to their new year's party.

however, i will choose to go with samantha.
it has been a while since i've hung out with her and the gang.

i feel bad for blowing off the others...but~ samantha and i go way back. it was an easy decision.

should be fun.

i was so tired from work. i hate working with lazy people.
that always means more work for me.

it gets frustrating every time.

so rose made me a reuben sandwich and it was awesome. i've never had one before and it was really good.
my mom came upstairs and i noticed her staring at the other half of my reuben.
i know she wants to eat it but she won't say anything.
i handed her the other half and she was smiling like a kid on christmas morning.

sometimes i swear my mom really is a kid.

i have to take my car to the shop.
the windshield wipers and the heater are broken.
i also need to get an oil change.... i am loooong overdue thanks to the stupid snow storms.

gotta love chicago weather.

the sickness

i am still sick.

my cold got worse this morning when the sisters were trying to wake me up to take them grocery shopping and my head hurt so much that i couldn't even see straight. my sisters were yelling and screaming around the house that it made my headache even worse. i curled up into a ball and covered my head with my huge pillow.

when my mom came home from work she took one look at my face and told me that i looked as bad as a woman that had just given birth. my hair wasn't brushed, i was sweating, my face was pale and my eyes were puffy and red.

thank you mother.
i so appreciate it.
even though i wasn't feeling that great i couldn't help but find humor in what my mother had just told me.
my mother is not afraid to be blunt. if she thinks your baby is ugly... she'll tell you it is ugly. i always tell her to think about it before doing it like whenever she's trying to get her seat belt on while she's driving. i fear for the pedestrians...i really do.

so once i was well enough to actually get up and walk around, i headed straight for the bathtub. this is my remedy for a bad cold or flu: always take a hot bath. a hot bath will help the body and mind to relax, helps with the body's circulation and also stimulates the immune system. almost immediately i felt much better.

my mother made some gimbap. she makes the best. i also made myself some honey lemon tea with orange slices.

so, i'll be taking the sisters out shopping tomorrow and i should be better before i have to go to work.

they keep bugging me to take them places and it is 2:04am in the friggin' morning....

why are they always like this? i don't know...

rose wants me to make her a classic reuben sandwich and i still have cake mix left so i'll also make some lamingtons.
this means i'll have to do grocery shopping in the early morning because of the snow that is coming around 9:00 am and i hate doing it since i'm not a morning person. i get pretty grumpy so people try to avoid me during that time of day.

feeling a little ill.
hopefully some rest will do me good.

it currently snowing and has been since i woke up this morning which was around 4:00 am.

snapped a shot of what it looks like in my backyard at the moment.

i had to call off work today. i have a cold and i normally suck it up and just go to work.

i just didn't want to suck it up today, because of what i had to go through during christmas eve. i won't deny it... i'm still pretty pissed that only my one co-worker and i were the only ones working that night with it being ridiculously busy as it was.

i thought it was so inconsiderate that everyone was scheduled to leave early and they were working with about 4 people and left us to be fed to the wolves.

anyways~ i was sleeping and i found this thing underneath the covers when i woke up. rose snapped a shot of the creature.

merry christmas~!

i am so glad i have no work. working last night during christmas eve was a nightmare.
people are so rude during the holidays, especially when they're doing last minute shopping.

it is getting to be really irritating.

anyway, i couldn't sleep a wink last night so i decided to bake cookies. i tried to tire myself out so i could fall asleep.

everyone in the family woke up at 11:00am to get ready for church service. it went well. my favorite part was when all the little kids were dressed up like angels and singing, " you raise me up."

it was adorable! after service, we rushed home and i made christmas dinner.

i woke up around 1:00 in the afternoon with a killer headache.

i get headaches when i sleep at odd hours.

i had to get outside for some fresh air and i did feel a little better. sarah brought in the mail and i found another christmas card, but this one is from alessandra. i ripped it open to find a snoopy christmas card and fell in love. i love snoopy so much. thank you alessandra, i sent your card today.

today i have been going back and forth from woodfield mall. i had to pick up rose and then take hannah to work. i hate going to the mall during the holidays....it seems like everyone gets crazy behind the wheel.

when i finally got home i baked a cake, made raspberry jam thumbprint cookies and

some peppermint cookies.

i can't believe christmas is only 4 days away. insane~

today was just drama, more drama and in the end it was happiness.

family is family....no matter how crazy they make you.
rose told me that our mom was extremely hurt that we were all fighting and not talking to each other.
however, we all made up in the end and it is over and done with.

i am physically, emotionally and mentally drained from all that had happened.
so the sisters and i made root beer floats to take our minds off of everything.

i also had to stop by the store and get cards for all my loving relatives.

i like to think most of them are loving. ; )

i found this birthday card by papyrus. it reminded me very much of the cards my uncle sent us from korea and so i got this to send my grammy in baltimore.
i hope that she likes it. i had to bust out the korean dictionary to make sure what i'm writing in korean is correct. my korean skills do not even surpass the 2nd grade level.

shameful.... i know...

it is currently 2am and the day is still young.

went to the sold out 12:01 am screening of Avatar and watched it in the IMAX theater.

it...was...AMAZING~!

i didn't know what to think of the movie at first, but the environment of "Pandora" was visually stunning.
it really took my breath away. a lot of people will appreciate every detail that they put into this film and i don't mean just by looking at the cg. i am referring to the detail that was put into the "Na'vi" culture, religion, language, movement and lifestyle. i applaud James Cameron for making this extraordinary film.

i really have fallen for this movie and with IMAX it made the whole experience even better than i could ever imagine.
the only problem i have with this movie was when they did the "naughty..."

......

it was awkward...
like reeeally awkward.

i couldn't help but chuckle. i know that makes me sound like an immature 13-year-old when they hear the word "boobies," but honestly, it can't be helped. it was very strange.

that is all i am going to say.
you'll know what i mean when you see "it."

so, before the movie started i went and got Ally some candy.
i waited for an hour for the movie to start and in the meantime everyone played around with my camera.

it is currently 19 °F.

i was supposed to go out shopping but i haven't moved an inch from my bed while being covered with mounds of blankets. mmm~ so toasty.....

i eventually will have to move from my spot so that i can go to work. BAH!

the sisters are out right now. rose is currently working in downtown chicago, sarah is out with her friends and the hannah (the youngest) will soon be arriving home from school in about 5 minutes.
the house is usually loud and noisy when they are all here, but it is eerily quiet with them all gone.
all i can hear right now is my dog snoring away at the end of the hallway.

this morning was gorgeous though. the sun is peaking out from heavy clouds every now and then.
breakfast was scrumptious. rose ordered something on the internet which is a panini maker, omelette maker and waffle maker all in one.... it is pure genius. the waffles i made looked...well they looked angry. the probably looked that way, because i made them so hideous....

sarah also got me a steel water bottle. i needed it and i am so glad that she got it for me.
it will be useful to have it with me when i go to work.
